Where Lions' Aidan Hutchinson ranks in pass-rush categories after 2 games
One of the bright spots from the Detroit Lions' Week 2 defeat at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, who was simply unblockable in the 20-16 loss.
Hutchinson had 4.5 sacks in the contest (and nearly had more), including three in the first quarter alone. That is the second-most in a single game by a Lions player in NFL history behind only William Gay, who had 5.5 in a game in 1983.
The Michigan product became just the fourth player since 1982 to have a three-sack game in each of his first three seasons in the league, joining Justin Houston, Jevon Kearse and Reggie White. And, since 1994, Hutchinson is the fourth player in the NFL to record a trio of sacks in the first quarter, something only Chandler Jones, Simeon Rice and Chris Clemons have done in that span.
After two games, Hutchinson leads the NFL in sacks (5.5), sack yards (42.0), QB hits (nine) and tackles for loss (five, tied), and he ranks third in forced fumbles.
Among all @NFL players so far this season, @Lions DL @aidanhutch97 ranks:

- t-3rd in FFs (1)

We don't have an official pressures stat yet, but after posting a league-high 11 in Week 1, per Pro Football Focus, Hutchinson is either at or near the top in that category, also.
Over his last four regular season games, Hutchinson has totaled nine sacks, which is the most over a four-game span for any player in franchise history.
It has truly been a pleasure to watch Hutchinson ascend to his status as one of the better pass-rushers in the NFL over the past few years. General manager Brad Holmes should send a yearly thank you over to the Jacksonville Jaguars for foolishly passing up on him in the 2022 NFL Draft.
