Brock Bowers has business-like response to standout showing in Raiders win
The Las Vegas Raiders notched one of the biggest upsets of Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season, beating the Baltimore Ravens, 26-23, in a game that saw rookie tight end Brock Bowers make a massive contribution.
Bowers recorded career-highs in catches (nine) and receiving yards (98), finishing second on the team in both categories behind only wide receiver Davante Adams.
Bowers also broke a few franchise records, with his 15 total catches over two games being the most ever for a Raiders rookie pass-catcher, and his 156 receiving yards are the most over two games by a Raiders rookie tight end, also.
After the game, Bowers had a very business-like response to his impressive performance.
“I was just out there doing my job on each play and I ended up open a few times,” he said, per Levi Edwards of Raiders.com.
A few times is a massive understatement. Bowers was getting free all game long and was an absolute menace for the Ravens' defense. He also came through with some clutch catches as the Raiders mounted their improbable fourth-quarter comeback.
Through two games, no tight end in the NFL has more receiving yards than Bowers, and his 15 catches are the most by a tight end since at least 1960.
So far, Bowers looks primed to deliver on the huge expectations he entered the league with and is showing exactly why he was too good to pass up on when general manager Tom Telesco drafted him No. 13 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.
