Tennessee Titans address position of need in recent 2025 NFL mock draft
You can never have too much edge help in the NFL in this day and age, and as of right now, the Tennessee Titans could definitely use more.
Tennessee a decent starting duo in Harold Landry and Arden Key, but the latter is simply too inconsistent to depend on as a starter. The Titans saw Jaylen Harrell emerge as a promising young player during the offseason, but depending on a seventh-round pick to pan out is always a risky proposition.
Knowing that, CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso has the Titans taking an edge rusher in the his 2025 NFL mock draft. Trapasso pegs Texas A&M EDGE Nic Scourton to Tennessee with the No. 5 overall pick.
"Scourton is a wide, girthy rusher with inside-out capabilities and the light feet of a defensive linemen 20 or 30 pounds lighter," Trapasso wrote.
All he had to say was "girthy" and I was all in.
Here's more on the 6-foot-4, 280-pound edge rusher, via Keith Sanchez of The Draft Network's scouting report, which lists Scourton as a Day 2 pick:
"Overall, Scourton has a unique blend of size, athleticism, and strength for an edge rusher," he wrote. "On the next level, he should be a versatile front-seven defender who can play EDGE but also reduce inside to an athletic hand-in-the-ground IDL."
Scourton started off at Purdue, where he tallied two sacks in 2022 before having a career year in 2023 with 10 sacks and 15 tackles for loss. He transferred to Texas A&M in 2024 and has one sack through three games.
We're going to have to see more out of Scourton before being OK with him as a top-five pick. Furthermore, if the Titans are picking in the top five, it's likely because Will Levis did not pan out the way we hoped, which would mean the Titans could be in the market for a quarterback in that spot.
