Three Jets' defensive starters on mend, RB Breece Hall lands on injury report
There are three important names on the New York Jets' injury report, and that's not including Jermaine Johnson who is destined for Injured Reserve with a torn Achilles.
With only three full days in between games, the Jets have a trio of defensive starters on the mend. While linebacker CJ Mosley was listed as a non-participant on Monday, cornerbacks DJ Reed and Michael Carter II were both limited. Since the practice was of the walk-through variety, the participation statuses are estimations.
"With DJ, we had a pregame evaluation. He just wasn't feeling it. Hopefully, we can get him on Thursday. CJ's dealing with a big toe. Like I said, hopefully we can get him back on Thursday also," said Saleh.
The Jets will host the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football in what will be Gang Green's home opener on September 19.
Reed emerged on the injury report last Wednesday with knee soreness. He was a non-participant on Friday and seemed questionable for the game against the Tennessee Titans. The Jets made him inactive on gameday.
Mosley left the Week 2 road win in the second quarter due to a foot injury, which has since been specifically described as a big toe issue. Deemed doubtful to return, the grizzled veteran remained in uniform on the sideline during the second half but never reentered.
Then, there's Carter, the starting slot corner who left the season opener early when his ankle flared up. He started against the Titans, but the injury continues to linger.
"The other one is Michael Carter. He was up the entire game, but he's another one. He's going to be dealing with his ankle all year or at least for the immediate future," said Saleh.
Running back Breece Hall's status is another development to monitor on the short week. After playing 41 of 57 offensive snaps in the win over Tennessee, Hall popped up on the injury report with a quadriceps issue. He was estimated as a full participant.
The Patriots released a lengthy Week 3 injury report with five non-participants and six limited players.
