49ers lose yet another superstar to devastating injury, per insider
The San Francisco 49ers didn't just suffer their first loss of the season in Week 2 action against the Minnesota Vikings.
San Francisco lost another superstar to a difficult injury.
The 49ers already are without the services of star running back Christian McCaffrey and now will be without the services of star receiver Deebo Samuel for "multiple weeks," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
"49ers coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that (wide receiver) Deebo Samuel has a calf strain and will miss a few weeks," Rapoport said. "Another star injury for the Niners."
San Francisco can't catch a break right now. The 49ers are hoping to make a deep run this season after falling against the Kansas City Chiefs in last season's Super Bowl. San Francisco has the core needed to get over the hump, but injuries already are holding the team back.
Samuel has been the 49ers' most productive receiver so far this season. Through two games, he logged 13 catches for 164 yards. He also added 13 yards on the ground and one rushing touchdown.
Hopefully, Samuel isn't forced to spend time on the Injured Reserve like McCaffrey. The 49ers still have plenty of talent on the roster and will win games, but the 2024 National Football League regular season has been nothing more than a disaster for San Francisco.
