Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior has been criticized by a club legend following a controversial goal celebration,

Los Blancos returned to La Liga action with a 2-0 win at Real Sociedad as Carlo Ancelotti's side remain unbeaten in their first four games of their league title defence.

Vinicius Jr secured the breakthrough in San Sebastian, as he scored from the penalty spot, before Kylian Mbappe netted a second spot kick to wrap up the result.

The La Real fans booed Vinicius Jr at various stages during the game and he responded with a shushing gesture after scoring from the penalty spot.

Another goal demonstrates the Brazil international's ongoing importance to Ancelotti's plans but some opposition fans continue to object to his antics.

His stance on racism has been praised by figures within Spanish football, but others feel his criticism is to wide-ranging, and former director of football Predrag Mijatović has told him to reduce the focus on his performances.

"He's throwing stones on his own roof and especially knowing everything that is happening around him. He should take this step and calm down a little bit", as per reports from Marca.

"We were very happy with the goal, but disappointed with the celebration. Why does he need to do this? He does himself harm. I speak to many Real Madrid fans who love him but are upset with his behaviour."

Real Madrid get their UEFA Champions League title defence underway on September 17 as VfB Stuttgart land in the Spanish capital.
