It is being dubbed “the greatest live sporting event of all time" and when the first bell rings at The Sphere in Las Vegas, UFC 306 will look to deliver. The event honoring Mexican Independence Day takes place on September 14 and will air on ESPN+ PPV in the U.S.

The main event sees Sean O’Malley defending the UFC bantamweight title against Merab Dvalishvili. O’Malley is a sharp-shooting striker with a colorful personality that matches his hair. “Suga” is on an eight-fight unbeaten streak dating back to 2021 and he's making his second title defense.

Dvalishvili is on a ten-fight win streak. A fighter with dominant wrestling skills, Dvalishvili was a top contender before O’Malley won the belt against teammate Aljamain Sterling. The Georgian is ready to avenge his friend and win gold.

The co-main event is a trilogy fight between Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko for the UFC flyweight title. A dominant champion, Shevchenko lost against Grasso at UFC 285 via a surprise submission from the Mexican. The rematch last year saw the fight end in a draw.

After coaching The Ultimate Fighter, both are ready to clash in the ultimate trilogy for flyweight gold.

The Sporting News will provide results, highlights, and analysis for UFC 306 at The Sphere.
