Ferrari's Charles Leclerc will start in pole position in Sunday's Azerbaijan Grand Prix as he edged out Oscar Piastri of McLaren by three-tenths of a second in qualifying.
Meanwhile, title contender Lando Norris had a tumultuous outing as he suffered a shock exit in Q1 and finished 17th.
Drivers' Championship leader Max Verstappen, who finished sixth, will hope to capitalize on this slip up from Norris and extend the lead at the top.
Chinese diver Zhou Guanyu, who races for the Kick Sauber team, was penalised for a power unit change during practice sessions. He will start the race in last place.
