Taylor Swift mania at Santiago Bernabeu forces Real Madrid rethink
Real Madrid have decided to “provisionally reschedule” forthcoming music concerts at the Santiago Bernabeu following complaints from local residents.
Madrid’s famous home stadium underwent an extensive renovation over recent years that cost €1.76billion ($1.91bn) according to the club’s interim accounts for the 2023/24 season.
Revamping the Bernabeu into a multi-purpose venue, complete with a retractable roof, that can serve as an entertainment destination all through the year is a key part of recouping some of those costs.
Taylor Swift brought her acclaimed Eras Tour to the Spanish capital in May, playing to 130,000 fans over the course of two nights.

However, shows by Spanish arthritis Dellafuente, Aitana and Lola Indigo have been postponed following a statement issued by Real Madrid.
The statement read: “Real Madrid C. F. hereby announces that it has decided to provisionally reschedule the calendar of events and concerts at the Santiago Bernabéu.
"This decision is part of a series of measures that the club has been taking to ensure strict compliance with current municipal regulations during concerts.
"Despite the soundproofing of the Santiago Bernabéu and the additional measures that have been put in place, compliance with these regulations by the various organisers and promoters has been hampered by the challenge of meeting all the requirements.
"Real Madrid will continue to work to ensure that during concerts there are precise conditions in the production and broadcasting of sound that allow concerts to be held at our stadium.
"New dates and details will be announced soon for Dellafuente and Aitana, initially scheduled for 15 November and 28 and 29 December 2024 respectively, and for Lola Indigo, scheduled for 22 March 2025. In the case of Music Bank, which was to take place on 12 October 2024, it has been definitively cancelled.”
The statement concluded: “In addition to concerts, the Bernabéu is equipped to host a multitude of events and shows, which will continue to take place as part of the stadium's development project.
“Real Madrid will continue to collaborate with the Comunidad de Madrid and the Madrid City Council for sustainability and coexistence, and will always aim to ensure that the stadium's activities guarantee its commitment to the city of Madrid and are beneficial to its environment.”
