2 ruled out, 3 doubtful in Bengals vs. Chiefs
The Cincinnati Bengals (0-1) are set for a crucial matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.
Coming off another brutal and shocking Week 1 loss, the Bengals are one of the top storylines throughout the entire NFL to begin the season. Meanwhile, the Chiefs handled business at home in their opener, squeaking out a win over the Baltimore Ravens.
The Bengals must show more life than what they brought to the table in Week 1 against the New England Patriots. A fully ready Ja'Marr Chase should help that cause while Zac Taylor needs to call for more downfield shots.
The defense will be presented with a stiff challenge after being gashed by Rhamondre Stevenson last week. The Chiefs seem to be back to their explosive ways so it will be another stiff challenge for Lou Anarumo's unit.
On the final injury report, there are no questionable players list. That can change on Saturday but for now, it's a pretty straightforward injury report.
We'll make any updates to this if either team makes changes to their injury reports Saturday, but these are the players with injury designations for the Week 2 matchup.
Bengals vs. Chiefs Week 2: Full injury designations
Cincinnati Bengals
Out
- DT Kris Jenkins (thumb)
Jenkins, a second-round pick, had surgery on his thumb but is expected to avoid a stint on the Reserve/Injured list. He didn't practice at all this week and has yet to make his NFL debut.
Doubtful
- WR Tee Higgins (hamstring)
- TE Tanner Hudson (knee)
- OT Amarius Mims (pectoral)
Another week without Higgins as the star wideout failed to log a practice after tweaking his hamstring last week. Hudson didn't practice Wednesday but was limited on Thursday before not practicing Friday so it's unclear whether he suffered a setback. Mims seems to be making progress as he was limited all week but still isn't ready to come back from his preseason injury.
No Designation
- QB Joe Burrow (wrist)
- DT B.J. Hill (knee)
- RB Zack Moss (neck)
- TE Drew Sample (biceps)
- S Geno Stone (back)
- LB Logan Wilson (knee)
Burrow downplayed any issues with his right wrist after the disastrous Week 1 outing, and he was a full participant all week. Hill practiced in full twice to end the week while Moss, Sample, and Wilson all practiced in full on Friday so they should be good to go. Stone popped up on the injured report Friday and was limited so he's one to monitor for a potential downgrade.
Kansas City Chiefs
Out
- WR Marquise Brown (shoulder)
Brown was ruled out and then placed on the Reserve/Injured list. He hasn't practiced since he suffered a dislocated SC joint during the preseason opener. Brown will undergo surgery and is expected to miss months in recovery.
No Designation
- LB Nick Bolton (elbow)
- DE Michael Danna (quad)
- S Nazeeh Johnson (hamstring)
- NT Derrick Nnadi (triceps)
- DT Mike Pennel (groin)
All of these players were full participants in every practice this week so the Chiefs are relatively at full health for this matchup.
