Bears vs. Texans final score, results: Houston moves to 2-0 as Caleb Williams sacked seven times in loss
The Houston Texans picked up a big 19-13 win over the Chicago Bears to close out Sunday's action in Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season. While the game was billed as a face-off between two young quarterbacks, C.J. Stroud and Caleb Williams, it ended up being a battle between kickers.
Stroud and the Texans got the ball first and drove down the field to get into field goal range. Ka'imi Fairbairn hit a 56-yard field goal for the game's first points. Chicago eventually responded with a field goal of its own toward the end of the first quarter.
The Houston defense was playing very aggressively, sending consistent blitzes Williams' way. He was taking a lot of hits early, and the offense was sputtering. Stroud connected with Nico Collins on a 28-yard score, and then Fairbairn added another field goal to move the lead the 10 points.

Williams led a scoring drive capped with a Khalil Herbert two-yard run, but Fairbairn was able to hit a 59-yard field goal right before half.
The teams traded field goals in the fourth quarter, but the constant hits Williams took added up. He started to show some wear and tear in the backfield. Despite moving the ball in the right direction, a turnover on downs sealed the loss for Chicago.
Passing Yards | Touchdowns | Interceptions | Sacks | |
C.J. Stroud | 260 | 1 | 0 | 3 |
Caleb Williams | 174 | 0 | 2 | 7 |
Outside of Stroud and Fairbairn, Collins was the bright spot for Houston, finishing with 135 yards and a score on eight receptions. Cairo Santos connected on 53- and 54-yard field goals for Chicago.
Houston is 2-0 as it heads into Week 3 and a road matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Chicago (1-1) will go on the road in Week 3 and take on the Indianapolis Colts.
