Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender Finds Its Toph for Season 2
We now know who will be playing the fan-favorite Earthbender.
Netflix kicked off its big Geeked Week live show with quite a reveal: Miya Cech will be playing Toph Beifong in Season 2 of its live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender adaptation.
The reveal was accompanied by a short video that focused on Toph, showing her feet before launching into an Earthbending move. The video also confirmed that Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 has officially started production.

While we've met plenty of Avatar's important characters in Season 1 of the live-action series — including Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, and even Azula — Toph wasn't introduced until Season 2 of the animated show, and thus, hasn't popped up yet. Her casting was one of the most anticipated parts of Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2, given how much fans love the independent, brash Earthbender. Toph was voiced by Michaela Jill Murphy in the animated series.
Cech joins returning cast members including Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Ken Leung, and Daniel Dae Kim. Netflix hasn't announced a release window for Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2, but given that it just started production, it'll likely be a little while.

Reviews of Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 1 were mixed, but viewership was strong enough that Netflix renewed it for two additional seasons in March. IGN gave Season 1 a 7/10, writing that it "enriches the original story with meaningful new material, but its breakneck pacing, exposition-heavy dialogue, and hit-or-miss effects aren’t precisely in balance."
