After years of frustration at Manchester United, Donny van de Beek has finally found a new home in Spain.

The Dutch midfielder, who once lit up Ajax’s midfield, has opened up about his difficult stint at Old Trafford and how things didn’t go to plan.

Van de Beek joined Manchester United in 2020, but things quickly went downhill. He struggled for game time and was loaned out to Everton and Eintracht Frankfurt.

This summer, the chapter closed when he made a permanent move to La Liga side Girona.

What Donny van de Beek said about his time at Man Utd?

In an interview with ESPN Netherlands, Van de Beek expressed no bitterness about his time at United.

“Nothing has come of it for either party,” he admitted, but he still took positives from his time in Manchester. “I didn’t play a lot, but I learned a lot. With good players and good people at the club, I’ll take those things with me into the future.”

At Girona, things seem to be looking up. On his debut from the bench in a 4-0 win over Osasuna, Van de Beek made an instant impact with an assist, proving he might still have the magic touch. Girona, fresh off a brilliant season that secured qualification for the UEFA Champions League, offers Van de Beek the chance to revive his career and possibly show the world what Manchester United missed.

United fans might remember Van de Beek as one of the biggest flops in the Glazer era, but now at 27, he’s getting a shot at redemption.
