Lions' Aidan Hutchinson has historic 1st quarter with 3 sacks vs. Bucs
The Detroit Lions struck gold when they drafted Aidan Hutchinson with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and he quickly proved that once again in the Week 2 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Hutchinson recorded a whopping three sacks in the first quarter alone against the Bucs. His first sack came on the first drive of the game when the Bucs were threatening to score points on the heels of a Terrion Arnold pass interference.
With Tampa Bay at the Lions' three-yard line, Hutchinson got to quarterback Baker Mayfield to secure an eight-yard loss and force the Buccaneers to settle for a field goal.

On Tampa Bay's next offensive drive, Hutchinson got to Mayfield once again, this time near midfield. The Bucs were able to recover, however, and managed to grab a field goal a few plays later.

Then, with about five minutes left in the first quarter, Hutchinson struck again with a third-down sack that forced the Buccaneers to punt.

This is the third three-sack game of Hutchinson's career, tied for the third-most in franchise history.
He's also just the fourth player since 1994 to record three sacks in the first quarter of a game. The other three are Chandler Jones, Chris Clemons and Simeon Rice.
