Will Jameson Williams play in Week 2? Latest updates on Detroit Lions WR
After a fantastic offseason, there was no shortage of hype for Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams, and the third-year wideout delivered in his first game of 2024 in the Week 1 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
Williams tallied a career-high 121 yards on five catches while also adding 13 rushing yards on one attempt. Williams' touchdown came on a 52-yard strike. His 121 receiving yards led the team, as did his nine targets and five receptions.
"He showed up," Lions head coach Dan Campbell said of Williams after Week 1, according to The Detroit News' Nolan Bianchi. "That was a big game...and the best part of it, he didn't even play his best ball. ... But it also shows the work that he's put in. ... He keeps taking these steps."
Just when Williams looked set to take off, he came down with an ankle injury that had him limited at practice all week and has left his status up in the air for Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as he's listed as questionable.
Will Jameson Williams play in Week 2?
Despite the questionable tag, Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is indeed expected to play in Week 2 against the Buccaneers, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Schultz's report did not indicate that Williams could see a limited workload, so there's no concern there at the moment.
Jameson Williams start or sit advice
After recording career-best numbers in Week 1, it's clear Williams is poised for the breakout campaign many were expecting him to have. He still has to compete with wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and tight end Sam LaPorta for targets, but Williams is certainly worth a look as a flex play in Week 2.
