Caitlin Clark is rewriting the history books during her rookie season in the WNBA.
After breaking the NCAA's all-time scoring record during her four-year college career at Iowa, Clark is breaking records with her playmaking at the pro level. Not only is she on pace to lead the league in assists per game as a rookie, Clark also shattered the WNBA's single-season assists record during Friday’s game against the Aces.
Here is where Clark stands on the all-time list of greatest individual WNBA seasons as a playmaker.

How did Caitlin Clark pass Courtney Vandersloot, Alyssa Thomas on all-time assists list?
Clark entered Friday’s game three assists shy of surpassing Courtney Vandersloot and five assists away from breaking Alyssa Thomas' all-time single-season record.
This season, Clark is averaging 8.5 assists per game. She needed less than one half of play against the Aces to break the record.

WNBA all-time single-season assists leaders list
Thomas and Vandersloot have turned in six of the top 10 individual seasons for total assists in WNBA history. The 2023 season marked the first year that the WNBA moved to a 40-game regular season, resulting in an uptick in total stats.

Clark's 8.5 assists per game give her the fifth-highest single-season average in league history. Vandersloot owns each of the four highest single-season assists averages in league history.
Vandersloot ranks second on the all-time assists list behind Sue Bird, who dished out 3,234 assists over 19 seasons. To break Bird's mark, Clark would need to dish out assists at this rate for at least 10 seasons while missing minimal games.
As a rookie, Clark set the WNBA's single-game assists record by dishing out 19 dimes against the Dallas Wings on July 17.
