Russell Wilson hater Mark Schlereth salty after whiffing on Steelers-Broncos prediction
Ever since Russell Wilson joined the Pittsburgh Steelers, former Denver Broncos offensive lineman and NFL analyst Mark Schlereth has been relentless in his criticisms of the veteran quarterback.
Part of it likely has to do with Schlereth just trying to get some attention, but Wilson's failed stint with his former team also plays a role. Of course, Wilson signed a massive contract with the Broncos in 2022 but never lived up to it.
Schlereth has gone as far as to call Wilson "delusional" and accused the veteran quarterback and former Super Bowl winner of not "understanding football." In what has been a national onslaught on Wilson, Schlereth has managed to stand out.
Ahead of the Week 2 game between Denver and Pittsburgh that Wilson didn't end up playing in due to his calf injury, Schlereth predicted that the Broncos would win by two touchdowns.
"Broncos by two touchdowns," Schlereth predicted on "Breakfast Ball" on FOX Sports.
Unfortunately for Schlereth, he wasn't even close. The Steelers went into Empower Field at Mile High and defeated the Broncos, 13-6. Denver didn't even score one touchdown in the contest.
After the game, Schlereth was extra salty, saying Steelers fans shouldn't be excited about beating a rookie quarterback who he thought could beat Pittsburgh by a pair of touchdowns.
"Steeler fans you beat a rookie QB and a rebuilding team by a 7," Schlereth tweeted. "Don't break your arms patting yourselves on the back!"
Steeler fans you beat a rookie QB and a rebuilding team by a 7... don't break your arms patting yourselves on the back!

How convenient for Schlereth to pull the "rookie QB" card after epically whiffing on his prediction. The only thing that would've made this more glorious is if Wilson had started the game and beat his former team.
Schlereth can say what he wants about what was no doubt an ugly win, but an ugly win is better than an ugly loss. Rest assured, Schlereth would've taken the former.
