Coming off a bye week after a dominant week one victory against Indiana State, Purdue focuses on Notre Dame, whom it will host at Ross-Ade Stadium. The Boilermakers face a Fighting Irish team coming off a stunning home loss to Northern Illinois last week.

This will be a huge test for Purdue head coach Ryan Walters, who went 4-8 in his first season in West Lafayette. ESPN college football analyst has eyes on Purdue QB Hudson Card entering this in-state matchup.

“He completed his last 17 passes, which is the longest completion streak by a Purdue quarterback in the past 15 years,” McElroy said on his show “Always College Football.” “It’s the longest completion streak by any player since Graham Mertz, ironically enough. Looking at all this stuff, I think Hudson Card is very, very comfortable, but I think he might be a bit one-dimensional.”

Card had an impressive performance against the Sycamores in week one, completing 24 of his 25 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns. However, he will be without crucial target C.J. Smith for yet another game.

A key storyline in this one will be Notre Dame’s offense vs. Purdue’s defense. The Irish have yet to throw a passing touchdown this season, whereas Purdue has a solid secondary led by preseason All-American Dillon Thieneman.

Ross-Ade Stadium has been the home for multiple upsets in the past, so it won’t be an easy environment for a bounce-back game for Notre Dame. The Boilermakers have upset Ohio State and Michigan State in previous years, where both teams were ranked inside the Top 5.
