Fans of the Denver Broncos will soon start hearing that unfortunate statistic about 0-2 teams making the playoffs and how hard it is to do. But after the team's Week 2 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, playoffs are the last thing the Broncos should be talking about.

The team managed to score just six points (two field goals) and the stat about the team never being shut out at home in its history was very much in play for most of this game. The Steelers weren't much better on offense, but they didn't need to be.

Just another awful performance by the #Broncos offense today. 64 yards rushing. Bo Nix 25 yards. Running backs had 39 yards. Bo had 2 picks and no TD passes. Steelers win 13-6 in one of the ugliest games I've seen in a long time. Broncos are 0-2. #BroncosCountry @DenverChannel

The result was the Broncos getting the ball back with nine seconds remaining to play on their own 19-yard line. How is a team that has had trouble getting a first down going to make anything happen in that situation?

The odds of recovering an onside kick based on today's rules are quite low, but you have to give it a shot. Payton made a ridiculously bad decision by choosing not to.
